The Story

From taking things apart as a kid to building CyberConnect, this is how curiosity turned into a mission.

Dorian Balogh

My name is Dorian Balogh, and I have been working with computers and electronics for over years. Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for taking apart anything and everything to understand how it works. This curiosity led me into the tech industry, starting with cell phones. After spending some time at a small kiosk, I transitioned to a role as an administrative worker at a small computer repair shop. Unfortunately, this position was short-lived as the shop could not sustain so many employees.

I then sought other opportunities in my field, but times were tough, and I struggled to find work. After relocating to a new city, I secured two jobs - one in security and the other in cell phones. I held these positions for several years, gradually building my knowledge of security and recognizing the vulnerabilities in technology.

During this period, massive hacks occurred almost weekly, which deeply concerned me. That reality pushed me to focus on security work more seriously, and it led me deeper into server infrastructure, hardening, and incident response.

Over time I stopped trusting off-the-shelf software that could not be inspected or verified. I moved toward self-hosting and open-source projects that could be vetted and understood end-to-end. That same mindset led me to discover foundations that defend user freedom and transparent software, and I stand with several of them today.

As the years went by, I took on various roles, even becoming a regional manager for Samsung's cell phone department. However, that position did not last long, as a devastating software update impacted the entire human race for a couple of years. During this challenging time, my father encouraged me to pursue higher education. I applied to university and was accepted just a week later to study for my bachelor's degree in computer science.

Fast forward to 2024, and I am still working as a security guard when a friend suggests, "Why don't you start up your own company?" Always wanting to work for myself, I thought, why not? This brings us to today, where, with years of server experience and years of cyber security research and knowledge, along with a burning passion for the right to repair, I present to you CyberConnect - where technology meets security.
